It’s been a really busy month, and I’ve enjoyed developing my clutch bag workshops, and working on curtains, and I’ve included these later in the blog.
I had a stall recently at the Hanwell Wine Estate Art and Craft event on (another) lovely sunny day, and was pleased that my bags in various designs created some interest, especially bottle bags (as I’d hoped for at this venue)!
Bottle bags
I have revised the pattern for bottle bags to include drawstrings instead of a ribbon-tie top, which makes closure easier and more secure. I am really pleased that these bags are being seen as a genuine attempt to reduce waste and conserve resources, and that recipients of gifts presented in this way are happy to regift the bags at a later date.
Clutch Bag Workshops
I have now developed the plan for clutch bag workshops, and am arranging dates with Allison Turner Designs in Long Eaton, where I have already presented a workshop for placemats. I have enjoyed developing this clutchbag, and am really pleased with the magnetic snap as a practical way to secure the flap, and I think it looks neat, too. I will be posting the dates when they are agreed, and am looking forward to carrying out the workshops.
Curtains
Curtain manufacture is an area I am still growing, and I am now turning my hand to blinds too.
I think this article by Gabby Deeming, courtesy of House and Garden, gives some great ideas for window dressing:
”Whether for your bedroom, living room or bathroom, curtains and blinds can offer just as much to the design of a room as the furniture. Curtains can add instant cosiness or grandeur. Blinds use a fraction of the fabric needed for curtains, but the variety of styles and textiles available means they don’t have to fall short on impact. So head for the heading tape and give your windows some love......”
