I've done a little shuffle for this edition. I was intending to talk about developments including clutch bag workshops, '...felt with the heART' products, and new bowl cover ideas, but with commission pressures, they are still, well.......developing! I'm not complaining though, it's good to be busy. More of these later in the year.
I've been doing a lot of work recently on bags of all types, and here are a couple of projects I'm particularly please with.
Toilet and Make-up Bags in Travel Label Fabric
I chose this fabric with travel in mind - I think the design lends itself to the experience; something pleasing to pack, and also to use whilst you're away. I saw the tassels at the wholesale haberdashers and thought 'Wow! They would look great on the 'Label fabric', and I think using them in a practical, yet decorative way is really effective. What do you think?
Beach Bag in Animal Fabric
Instead of using a zip to close this large capacity beach bag, I left it open, but placed poppers at either end of the opening so that the bag can be closed enough to prevent contents falling out easily, while still allowing access. Make-up Bag in Animal Fabric
I made this with different animals from the same fabric on each side and I love the effect.
In fact I really enjoy trying out different ideas. I've never considered myself a designer, but I do like to experiment with various methods and features, and finding out which can be both practical and aesthetically pleasing.
Kits
Kit development is a special focus for this year. So far, I have produced lavender-filled Hanging Hearts, along with small Wallets - again a mixture of attractive and practical designs - is there a theme developing here, I wonder? I had real fun developing these, and photographing every stage, and my next focus for these will be the Christmas themed ones. The Kits come with materials and detailed illustrated instructions, and all that is needed at home are the machine and sewing threads.

In June, I'm hoping to be talking about curtains, workshops and bottle bags, but as you know, anything can happen at SAS HQ!
In the meantime, I hope the weather continues to be kind as we approach the holiday season - only 5 short weeks to the longest day, where has the year gone???
